A lack of the active B12s, AdoCbl and MeCbl, are at the root over 600 biochemical processes. Without B12 no organs or tissues can get made. Without b12 no ATP gets produced. A person can be short of one kind and not the other, short in the brain but not the body, and all sorts of complications. Lack of B12 is 100% fatal eventually if allowed to continue. However, a couple of mcg a day of B12 can keep a person miserably alive for a long time. With enough B12 of the right kinds and enough co-factors and tissues get made and most things work pretty well. Lack of B12 can cause any of several hundred symptoms and signs depending of what is missing also and order is everything in determining all the deficiencies.
