Giratina ex can also be built around a Psychic-focused strategy rather than relying exclusively on the Darkrai shell. The Psychic Strategy

One of the smartest ways to play this version is to stop thinking of Giratina purely as an attacker. During the early game, it can function as an Energy battery.

This creates a more dynamic game plan than simply charging Giratina and waiting for Chaotic Impact.

When Mewtwo Is Better

Mewtwo ex is attractive when you need a high-damage finishing attack. The official Giratina/Mewtwo list used only three Pokémon and 17 Trainer cards, emphasizing consistency and access to Giratina early.

That structure also reduces the number of cards competing for opening hands. More Trainer cards mean more room for healing, switching, disruption, and search effects.

When Lunala Is Better
