The Prom has introduced all-terrain wheelchairs and specially modified cabins with entrance ramps, accessible bathrooms and parking to make it easier for people with disability, their families and carers to enjoy their park stay.
All-terrain wheelchairs - a TrailRiderAll and beach wheelchairs - are available for park visitors with significant physical disabilities to explore the great outdoors at Wilsons Promontory National Park. The chairs are suited for sandy and semi-rough tracks making it easier to access the many stunning trails and beaches at Wilsons Promontory National Park.
The TrailRider requires a minimum of two operators. Four operators are recommended for long trails or walks with significant gradients. The passenger of the TrailRider chair must provide their own bike helmet and wear it when using the chair.
The all-terrain beach wheelchair is suited for sandy and semi-rough track surfaces that are not accessible with conventional wheelchairs. A reasonably strong and fit person is required to push the chair on the beach and on trails with significant gradients.
All-terrain wheelchairs easily disassemble and fit in the back of a station wagon. The chairs can be borrowed for free. Bookings can be made in advance. Please supply your own bike helmet. For all bookings and enquiries please contact the Wilsons Promontory National Park Information Centre on (03) 5680 9555.
